Jeff Davis - Bio
Jeff's NASCAR career began after years of racing in numerous divisions of sports cars. His wins and championship in the 1990 Star Mazda Championship was followed with a 10th in the 1991 CART Indy Lights series standings. This lead to other rides including a drive in the GTP cars in the 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, Toyota Atlantic where he finished top 3 in his three starts, and SCCA Trans Am cars and a win in the prestigious Portland Rose Festival Cup in 1992.1992 was the year Jeff moved to NASCAR. After competing in just one Winston West event, he purchased a used Winston Cup car from Jack Roush, chassis JR-5, and took it to Phoenix for the Winston Cup race. There he qualified 39th and finished 26th, just ahead of pole sitter Rusty Wallace and four spots behind Richard Petty in his next to last race.
In 1993 Jeff attempted several other Cup events, making the race at Sears Point, but failing to qualify at Michigan twice, Watkins Glen and Phoenix. He finished the year with a run in the ARCA event at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Stepping back to the Winston West series in 1994, he had many top 5 and top 10 finishes which propelled him to be top finishing rookie in the standings, finishing 4th for the year. That year included a qualifying attempt at the Inaugural Brickyard 400.
His other seasons included Winston West series competition and various starts or qualifying attempts in Winston Cup events at Las Vegas, Infineon Speedway in 1997, Brickyard 400 in 1999 and the invitational races at Suzuka and Motegi in Japan. He also competed in the inaugural Toyota Showdown at Irwindale Speedway.
As of 2006, Jeff is still driving as often he finds an opportunity in NASCAR Grand National West Series races each year.
